Gusau – The Zamfara State Government on Friday solicited the support of the Police in curbing insecurity in the state.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, made the call while receiving Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Logistics and Supply at the Police Headquarters, Abuja, Mr Mamman Tsafe in Gusau on Friday.
Wakkala said that insecurity in the state was only surmountable when police put in more effort in to combat it.
“Most of the challenges that consumed a lot of lives and properties in the state are armed banditry and cattle rustling.
“The police have the power to protect lives and property as well as ensure that laws and order are maintained in the county.
“Zamfara state government did not welcome any other security outfit, like the vigilante group, because they sometimes take laws into their hands.
“We want only the concerted effort of police, army and other security agencies authorised to provide security in our fight against insecurity,’’ Wakkala said.
Earlier, Tsafe had said that his visit to the Zamfara was part his tour of police formations in the North-West.
