Abuja- The President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Daniel Igali, on Monday in Abuja, said no fewer than 200 athletes had registered for the All Africa Games (AAG) wrestling trials.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three-day trials is being organised by NWF to select wrestlers who would represent Nigeria in the event at the games and begin preparation.
“We have more than 200 participants from 24 states in Nigeria; we left it open for all states and individuals to participate, and they are here based on merit.
“We have three categories of the trials – Greco Roman Wrestling, Female Wrestling and Free Style Wrestling.
‘’Each day is devoted to a particular class of wrestling; today, the focus is on Greco Roman Wrestling,’’ he said.
“They have been in camp for the past three weeks and they would be there until they depart for Congo; every winner will be automatically qualified for the games,’’ Igali said.
