Abuja – Mrs Hawa Muhammad, the Regional Manager FCT North of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Thursday assured customers in the area that they would be provided with meters within two years.
Muhammad said this during a one day sensitisation campaign on the new tariff increase at Lifecamp, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the AEDC FCT North region includes Lifecamp, Bwari ,Gwarinpa, Katampe, and Kubwa.
The manager explained that with the new energy tariff, the fixed charges previously being paid by customers had been removed, adding that after the initial increase, energy cost would decrease over time, as customers would only be paying for what they consumed.
She listed improvement in quality of power supply, accelerated metering programme, improved customers services and developing new sources of supply within AEDC’s franchise areas as the commitment of the company to its customers.
She urged all AEDC customers to ensure that they conserved electricity by switching off their appliances when not in use.
She further appealed to customers to protect their power installations from vandals and pay their energy bills as at when due.
Muhammad assured the customers that the company was prepared to serve them well. (NAN)
