Abuja Plane Crash: Buhari Visits Survivors, Mourns Squadron Leader Baba-Ari

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday visited the survivors of the two Air Force jets that crashed in Abuja on Friday during rehearsals for Nigeria’s 58th Independence celebration. He also  mourned Squadron Leader Bello Baba-Ari, the pilot who died in the crash.

The president visited the two surviving co-pilots at the Defence Intelligence Agency Hospital, Abuja where they were receiving treatment.

During the visit, President Buhari praised the two survivors for their service to the nation and wished them speedy recovery.

Two jets belonging to the Nigerian Air Force Friday had a midair collision at the Katampe area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, which claimed the life of one of the pilots, Squadron Leader Baba-Ari.

Buhari who was in New York at the time of the tragic incident but immediately sent a delegation led by his Chief of Staff, Malam Abba Kyari, to visit the two surviving co-pilots in hospital.

A board of inquiry to investigate the cause of the crash of the military jets has been constituted.
