Abuja – Ahmed Kawu, former Nationwide League I Chairman, has applauded Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory over their Taifa stars of Tanzania in Uyo in the group match for the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
Kawu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the team did well, though, it had lost many scoring chances.
“With the new coach on board , we can say that the team did well though the finishing of the attack was bad.
“We should have scored at least five goals but the finishing was bad and it is what the team should begin to work on.
“I will also say for now, that the coach is good. He made good substitutions that helped the team as well’’.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored the Nigerian team’s lone goal at the 81st minute of the match that took place at the Godswill Akpabio Staduim on Saturday.
NAN reports that the Talifa stars have yet to defeat Nigeria in all the six encounters they have had with the Super Eagles. (NAN)
