IDO (Oyo) – Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has described a federal lawmaker, Hon. Sunday Adepoju, as a good representative of the APC.
Ajimobi spoke on Thursday at the Town Hall meeting organised by Adepoju to render account of his stewardship to the people of his constituency.
Adepoju represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The governor, who was represented by Dr Gbade Ojo, his Special Adviser on Political Matters, said the lawmaker had represented the constituency well.
“The party has raised the standard of law-making by presenting quality people as law makers at every level of legislation in the current political dispensation,’’ he said.
Ajimobi said only the continuity of the APC administration in Oyo State would enhance growth and development.
He recalled that the kind of growth and development attained by Lagos State could not be divorced from the continuity the state enjoyed since 1999.
Ajimobi said the history of “ one term per governor’’ that had been the lot of the state over the years, saying the late Bola Ige was denied a second term inspite of his achievements.
He enjoined residents of the state not to allow those he called “reactionary forces’’ to impede the development of the state in 2015.
Ajimobi highlighted the various programmes executed by his administration, canvassing that there should be continuity in governance.
“ We all need to work together for this state to move forward.
“ The growth of Lagos State today should be a wake-up call to all of us to ensure that our administration comes back in 2015,’’ he said.
Also addressing the crowd, Adepoju said that the programme was organised to fulfill his pledge while soliciting for the votes of the people.
The lawmaker, who recalled that he had promised to be accountable to the electorate, said:
“Your sweat is the salary I receive so that I can continue to enjoy your prayers.
“ It can be critically affirmed from the above that I have surpassed the previous lawmakers in the constituency.
“I have also exterminated the “siddon look’’ syndrome in the legislative arm of government,’’ he said.
Adepoju, who highlighted the various projects he had facilitated and executed within the last three years promised the constituents more initiatives.
Mr Samuel Akintokun, the APC Chairman in Ido Local Government, described Adepoju’s achievements as unprecedented.
Present at the programme were Alhaji Olayide Abas, the Chairman, Oyo State Hospital Management Board as well as Mr Adefisoye Adekanye, the Oyo South Senatorial District Chairman of APC.(NAN)
