Lafia – Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state, has assured the contractors handling the 330KVA power sub-station in Akurba near Lafia, of government support to ensure speedy completion.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday in Lafia when Mr Mursel Gulsen, Managing Director of Ak-Ay Electrick, the Turkish company handling the project led a team on a courtesy visit to Government House.
He lauded the commitment of the management of the company to ensure timely completion of the project.
He expressed hope that completion of the project would put an end to epileptic power supply and open new vista for the economic development of the state.
Al-Makura noted that though work on the project began in 2014, no serious work was done until 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari gave it the needed attention.
Earlier, Dr Mohammed Bawa-Gummi, the company’s Director of Administration, told the governor that the building plan for the project, submitted in 2016, had been approved.
He added that soil test where the sub-station would be erected had also be completed and approved.
He said the work on the project had reached 30 per cent, adding that with the approvals, the pace of work would increase.
Bawa-Gummi said that fabrication of all the needed items for the sub-station would be completed and brought to site in July.
He assured of the company’s commitment to complete the project within stipulated time in line with the terms of the contract.
