Benin – The spokesman of Edo Football Association (FA), Joshua Obadan, on Saturday said that arrangement had been concluded for Edo Federation Cup final on Sunday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
Obadan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin that the final would be between a team from the Nigeria Nationwide League, Dynamite FC and an amateur league club, Inneh Stars.
He said that Dynamite, a two-time winner of the Cup and Inneh Stars were set to clinch the winners’ prize money of N500,000.
Obadan said that to qualify, Dynamite defeated the 2015 winner, BJ Foundation 2-1 in the first semi-finals, while Inneh Stars defeated Buffalo by the same margin in the second.
NAN reports that the FA in order to make the Federation Cup more competitive had signed an endorsement with FROT Group.
This necessitated the increase in the prize money from N50,000 in 2015 to N500,000 in 2016.
The second and third place winners are expected to also go home with N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
The FA Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, had said that efforts were being made to make the FA Cup more glamorous and to encourage the development of the game in the state. (NAN)
