Umuchu (Anambra) – The Anambra Government on Thursday expressed its willingness to partner with farmers willing to venture into cattle rearing.
Speaking when he visited the Eagle Food Processing Industries, at Umuchu, the commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Afam Mbanefo, said the move was part of Gov. Willie Obiano`s commitment to make the state food basket of the nation.
Mbanefo, accompanied by the Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Agriculture, Mr Mike Okwuekwe, said that government was ready to provide necessary assistance to farmers interested in cattle rearing.
According to him, the state government has already provided enabling environment for farmers and assisted them in so many ways.
“People of the state have massively embraced farming and queued into the Gov. Obiano’s blue print on agriculture,” he added.
Mbanefo said that he was at Umuchu to see Eagle Food frozen Chicken Park and borrow from the experience of the founder and Managing Director of the firm, Mr Ugochukwu Okparaeke.
In his remark, Okparaeke while conducting the commissioner round various departments in the industries commended Obiano for being farmer-friendly.
He said that Eagle Food was ready to offer its experience to the people and collaborate with government to ensure food security in the state. (NAN)
