Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Sen. Andy Uba to accept his defeat in the August 26 primaries in the state.
Sundiata Post recalls that Sen. Uba had written a petition to the Appeal Panel after the primaries, alleging that the exercise was marred by fraud and widespread irregularities.
But the National Working Committee of the APC, on Monday, upheld the election of Hon. Tony Nwoye as the party’s flag bearer in the November 18 Anambra governorship election.
The party’s plea to Senator Uba was contained in a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary in Enugu, Mrs. Kate Ofor and made available to newsmen.
Mrs. Ofor who congratulated Nwoye for surmounting the “booby traps” put on his way by some individuals, appealed to Sen. Uba and the other aspirants that were not successful at the primary election to close ranks with the party and support Nwoye to ensure that APC emerges victorious in the Anambra governorship election.
The party’s Publicity Secretary who described as “master stroke,” Nwoye’s selection of Hon. Dozie Ikedife (Jnr.) as running mate, added that it has made APC’s mission to rescue Anambra State from Chief Obiano a done deal.
She however reminded Ndi-Anambra that Chief Obiano has not only consigned Ndi-Anambra and by extension Ndigbo to the periphery in Nigerian politics, his performance is below expectation compared with the over N70 billion he inherited from Peter Obi his predecessor; billions from federal allocations and humongous internally generated revenue.
Mrs. Ofor, therefore, described the confirmation of Nwoye’s ticket as landmark and a milestone in the bid for the APC to wrest power from APGA and join Ndigbo to the mainstream of Nigerian politics and re-enact the ageless lessons of the Great Zik, who thought us how best to engage in national politics.
She reminded that Zik had admonished them to always play in the premier league, not in the minor league. Stressing that they are tired of lamentation of marginalization in a country where Ndigbo towers high in the human development index and prosperity index.” \
Mrs Ofor called on Ndi-Anambra to vote for Nwoye on November 18, saying that even the Great Zik of Africa would be happy in his grave to see that the state regains its position as the ‘Light of the Nation’
