•Late Justice Joseph Ikyegh
MAKURDI (Sundiata Post) – Justice Joseph Ikyegh of the Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal, is dead.
Justice Ikyegh was among the list of 22 justices sent by the Federal Judicial Service Commission to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for recommendation to the Supreme Court.
His name was under the North-Central zone but on the reserve column.
Justice Ikyegh did not make the list of 11 justices eventually recommended by the NJC to President Bola Tinubu.
He died on Wednesday, December 6.
His family confirmed his death in a statement but was silent on the cause. Media reports however say he slumped in front of his family members at his home town in Makurdi, Benue State, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
