Ilorin – For allegedly attempting to rob a man at gunpoint, a 38-year-old, Komolafe Kayode, was on Tuesday remanded
in prison on the orders of an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court.
Kayode who lives at Otte-Oja area of Ilorin, is being tried for criminal trespass, attempted armed robbery and illegal possession of
firearms.
Insp. Zacheaus Folorunsho, prosecuting, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept. 6 at Mustapha Akanbi
House, Ilorin.
Folorunsho said the complainant, Saidu Kolawole, raised an alarm when the accused attacked and attempted to rob him of his
belongings at gunpoint.
Passersby, however, gave the accused a hot chase and arrested him, he said.
He urged the court not to grant the accused bail because investigations into the case was ongoing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The offences contravened Sections 6(b), 2(1) and 3 of Armed Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions), Laws of the
Federation 2004.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki refused the accused bail and remanded him at the Federal Prison , Ilorin,
and adjourned the case until Oct. 30.
