Obudu (Cross River) – The Wife of Cross River Governor, Dr Linda Ayade on Thursday inaugurated a skill acquisition center built by Orim Foundation at Okweriseng community, in Obudu Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ayade said the center would go a long way in the manpower and capacity building of women and youths in the community.
The center is an initiative of Mr Martin Orim, Chief of Staff to the Governor and founder of Orim Foundation in honor of his late father.
“This is indeed very apt and coming at a time of dire need due to rising unemployment of youths in the state, especially in small communities such as Okweriseng.
“There is no doubt that this center will help take the youths out of restiveness and keep them busy to promote desired peace and tranquility needed in this community’’.
She commended the founder and initiator of the center, saying that it was a history in the making and a worthwhile venture.
Speaking, Orim said the foundation was a non-profit organisation, with over 120 people to be trained in various technical vocations.
He also said that the foundation was in partnership with some similar bodies both within and outside the state. (NAN)
