Kuriga town in Kaduna State experienced chaos as a group of bandits targeted LEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), abducting approximately 100 individuals, including the school’s head teacher and staff.
The incident unfolded at 8:20 am post-morning assembly, causing shock and distress within the school community. While the exact number of abducted persons remains unverified, residents reported the alarming estimate.
Most pupils managed to escape the armed bandits during the intrusion. The abduction took place despite security concerns, leading to the relocation of junior and secondary sections of the school to a more secure location within the town.
Residents confirmed the incident, with witnesses stating that the victims were forcefully taken into the nearby forest. As of now, the state government is yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
