Abuja,- Dr Anthony Uwa, a consultant to the National Population Commission, says the implementation of Basic Registry and Information System in Nigeria (BRISIN) would generate over 10 million jobs and enhance economic development.
Uwa said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday.
He said BRISIN, also known as the National Integrated Data and Information Infrastructure (NIDII), would enhance the country’s economic development if effectively implemented.
According to him, BRISIN is the panacea for the nation’s economic crisis whether social, economical or environmental.
Uwa said BRISIN would give the managers of economic policies clear vision and knowledge on how to get things done.
He explained that the programme would create over 10 million jobs in a few years in the country when fully implemented.
“BRISIN is a job creator and when embraced by any nation, it would enable it to create a lot of jobs because all aspects of its sectors will be monitored by the programme.
“BRISIN is an infrastructure a country can build from the local, state and federal governments that will give it opportunities of knowing her economy as well it is well plan,’’ he said.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He added that with correct data and information, ministries, agencies and even departments would benefit heavily in the project when it had been implemented.
He said past administrations failed in their various policies because they did not have BRISIN that would have guided them to plan and execute their policies correctly.
The managing director, however, called on the government to fully implement BRISIN to ensure that all his electoral promises were effectively executed.
He listed lack of publicity, funding, and delay by FCT as the pilot state and the states to provide facilities for the start of the programme, as the challenges facing BRISIN.
Uwa is also the Managing Director of Dermo Impex Nigeria Limited, the consulting firm to the project. (NAN)
