Abuja – An official of the Bauchi State Sports Council, Salisu Garba, says the state is to field 215 athletes in 27 sports codes in the upcoming National Youths Games.
The event is billed for Ilorin, Kwara from Sept. 7 to Sept. 17.
Garba, who is the Deputy Head of Planning of the council, made the announcement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
He expressed his optimism that the state would also win 14 medals at the event.
According to him, Bauchi State is on course to increasing its medal haul because of the level of preparation made by the state toward the games.
He recalled the state won seven medals, comprising two silver and five bronze in the 1016 edition of the event.
“In this edition, we are looking at seven gold, seven silver and some bronze medals.
“We are prepared for the games. We received needed support from the government so we are putting everything in motion to ensure success.
“We are prepared for the camping of the athletes which will commence in the next two days.’’
