Makurdi – The Speaker, Benue House of Assembly, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, on Friday urged Nigerians to be calm over the current economic situation.
He said that a bright light awaited them at the end of the tunnel.
Ikyange made the call in Makurdi in a message to the people of the state on the occasion of Nigeria’s independence anniversary.
He said the policies being fashioned out by the Economic Team of President Muhammadu Buhari would soon take the country out of the current economic recession.
According to the speaker, the administration of Buhari has given people hope that better days are ahead in spite of all the challenges that slowed down the smooth sail to greatness.
Ikyange said that this year’s anniversary celebration had provided yet another period for Nigerians to take stock of the progress and challenges the country had encountered on its journey to nationhood.
He said that in Benue, Gov. Samuel Ortom, had put in place people-oriented policies and programmes to better the lot of residents.
He said that the governor was determined to improve the living standards of the people through massive renovation of schools.
“The transformation of rural areas is being done judiciously through the application of SDGs Conditional Grants, transparency in governance and zero tolerance for corruption,” he said.
Ikyange assured the people of Benue that the State Assembly would continue to enact quality laws that would ensure good governance in the state.
