LAGOS – Bishop Joseph Adeyemi of the Anglican Diocese of Badagry on Wednesday advised teachers to instill discipline, morals and Godly virtues in students to enhance their well being.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
Adeyemi gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on the sidelines of the foundation-laying of a school chapel at the Anglican Girls Grammar School, Surulere.
NAN reports that the event was in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School, Surulere.
The clergyman said the chapel would serve as a reminder to students to shun vices and imbibe Godly virtues.
He said the presence of the chapel in the school signified the presence of God among the students.
“The temple when it was put up in Israel signified the presence of God among His people and education without God is unacceptable to God.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and there is the need to add worship to education because without the wisdom of God, one can achieve nothing,’’ Adeyemi said.
The Chairman, Board of Governors of the school, Dr Mopelola Omoegun, told NAN that the project, estimated at N50 million, was long overdue.
Omoegun said that with the presence of God in the compound there was nothing to fear.
“Children growing up to have a silent communion with God are taking the right step toward the right direction,’’ she said.
Omoegun said the project would be completed in two years. (NAN)
