Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive during his May 29 inauguration speech ordering the Nigerian Military to relocate Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC) to Maiduguri in Borno State to fight the deadly Boko Haram insurgents, the Nigerian Army has relocated the Command and Control Centres to Maiduguri and Yola in Adamawa State.
Colonel Sani Usman, Director of Army Public Relations in a statement, disclosed that the Nigerian Army had relocated to Maiduguri and Yola in the North-Eastern Nigeria to effectively fight the insurgency and terrorism in that part of the country.
The Nigerian Army spokesperson said the relocation of the Command Centres was based on Buhari’s pronouncement and the directive from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah.
“The team, which is led by a two-star General, has already commenced work in earnest and it is comprises elements of the Office of the Chief of Army Staff, all the relevant Army Headquarters Departments and other combat support components. From now on, the fight against terrorism and insurgency would be monitored, coordinated and controlled from this centre”, Colonel Usman concluded.
