Jarrod Bowen’s equalizer against Tottenham last night makes him the first player to score in 7 consecutive Premier League away games this season. This sets his sights on the record of Robin van Persie who scored had scoring streak in 9 such matches. The Dutch striker had achieved the feat while playing for the Gunners in the 2010/11 season.
It began when RVP netted the opener at Birmingham City on the first day of 2011. In his next game on the road, the 2005 FA Cup winner, scored twice and provided and assist to secure a 3-0 win over West Ham. It was a dramatic game as he got assists for both goals from Walcott and set the Englishman up for one goal. Robin’s third away game of the took him to St James’ Park for an encounter with Newcastle. He got another brace in the match as the Gunners ended the first half with a 4-goal lead. Unfortunately, the Wenger boys threw away the lead to end the game with a 4-4 scoreline.
He netted once more in his only game on the road in March, 2011. This was at West Brom. He followed up with one goal in each of his next 5 away matches. These were against Blackpool, Tottenham, Bolton, Stoke and Fulham. Interestingly, two of the game ended in losses.
Bowen’s streak started on the opening day of the 2023/24 season when he scored the opener against Bournemouth. The English winger was also on target against Brighton and Luton in his next two games on the road. When West Ham visited Liverpool and Aston Villa on match days 6 and 9 respectively, the England international scored once each but ended on the losing side. His last two away matches took him to Brentford and Tottenham where he has got one goal each.
With one goal in each of his next two away games will make him level with the former Arsenal star.
