Kano- Dr Vincent Onome, the Acting Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE),has commended the management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) for the steps it has taken to reduce loss.
A statement by KEDCO on Saturday said Onome was impressed by the minimal Aggregate Technical, Commercial and Collections Loss (ATC&C).
The statement was signed by the Public Relations Officer of KEDCO, Mr Mohammed Kandi.
Onome, the statement said, also applauded the ongoing Geographic Information System (GIS) based customer enumeration exercise being carried out by the Company.
It added that the BPE Boss, who was represented by the Deputy Director, Post-Privatisation Monitoring Department, Mr Balogun Omotunde, led the Bureau’s team on monitoring and inspection exercise to Kano.
The statement quoted Onome as saying that KEDCO’s ongoing restructuring which led to creation of more Customer Service Points (CSPs) and Technical Service Points (TSPs), had cut down its ATC&C losses.
It said Onome commended KEDCO on its community sensitisation efforts and urged its management to step up the training and staff development activities in areas of customer relation and quality control.
“You will need to continue sensitising members of the public about the electricity value chain in your weekly community engagement exercise.
“Let them know you only distribute electricity and not generating or transmitting.
“You should also intensify campaigns on energy conservation especially now that there is improvement in power supply to customers across your network,” Onome said.
