Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The released 103 Chibok school girls will be handed over to the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan on Monday, May 29, 2017.
The minister disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja during a ministerial press briefing.
Senator Aisha Alhassan who said that everything is ready for the released Chibok girls ahead of their handover on monday, added that none of the girls is pregnant as suggested by their medical records.
“The girl with the amputated hand has been treated and the one with bullet in her body has been successfully operated and the bullet removed”, she said.
According to the Minister, “the girls are fit enough to be handed over to me on Monday and everything, including shelter is ready for them.
She said the Chibok school girls have undergone series of medical tests and have been certified medically fit, stressing that arrangement has been concluded to enroll them in school by September.
Aisha also informed that the released Chibok school girls were few days ago united with their family.
Sundiata Post recalls that on the night of 14-15 April2014, about 276 female students were kidnapped fron the Government Secondary School Chibok in Borno State. The resposibility for the kidnapping was claimed by Boko Haram, an extremist Islamic terrorist organisation based in Northern part of the country.
The first set of the abducted Chibok school girls numbering 21 was released on october 13, 2016 and the second set of 82 was released on May 7, 2017.
