Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has again resigned his position, but now, as Chairman of Nigeria Sugar Development Council, (NSDC) less than 48 hours after he resigned as the National Publicity Secretary of the party.
Bolaji who announced his resignation on Friday on his twitter handle @BolajiAbdullahi said: “Following my resignation as National Publicity Secretary of APC and my decision to quit the party, I announced to the board this morning that I have resigned my appointment as Chairman, Nigeria Sugar Development Council”.
Sundiata Post recals that Bolaji had on Wednesday, while resigning his appointment as the National Publicity Secretary of the APC hinged his decision on the usurpation of his role.
On the notice of his resignation to the public via his twitter handle, Bolaji said:
“In view of recent political developments in the country and within the All Progressives Congress (APC), I have decided to resign my position as the National Publicity Secretary as well as my membership of the party with effect from today (Wednesday).
“In the last few days, I have had to endure the flagrant usurpation of my role as the spokesman of the party in a manner that I consider unbefitting of a ruling party and inconsistent with my ethical standards.
“I have served the APC honestly and to the best of my ability and when I stood for and won my election at the last convention; it was a keen desire to continue to do so.
“However, in a situation whereby my loyalty is constantly brought into question; my subordinates deployed to subvert my office; and my views constantly second-guessed on the basis of my political affiliation, it has become imperative for me to review my position,” he said.
Recall that prior to his defection on Wednesday, Senate President Bukola Saraki had on Tuesday, together with Kwara state Governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the dissolution of the state executive from ward to state level by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee.
A move which many is believe is not unconnected with attempt by the party to get at Saraki and his loyalists. The senate President was quoted to have instructed Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi (his loyalist) to vacate his office before announcing his defection on Tuesday to PDP.
