Abuja (Sundiata Post)- Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari at the Aso Rock Villa.
Sundiata Post recalls that Buratai had earlier before the meeting, inaugurated a 10-member committee to probe the allegation levelled against the military by a former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd).
When approached by State House correspondents after the meeting, the army chief did not disclose what he and Kyari discussed.
Recall that Danjuma had, at the convocation of Taraba State University in Jalingo on March 24, accused the Armed Forces of aiding attacks by bandits on communities across Nigeria, warning that if such attacks continued, the consequences would make what happened in Somalia a child’s play.
Danjuma had also said that the military could not be relied upon for the security of the citizenry, advising Nigerians to rise up to defend themselves or risk massacre.
“The armed forces are not neutral,” he said, adding, “They collude with the armed bandits that kill people, kill Nigerians. They facilitate their movement. They cover them. If you are depending on the armed forces to stop the killings, you will die one by one,” he had said.(Daily Trust)
