Business mogul urges African youths to acquire entrepreneurial skills

Abuja – Mr Nya-Etok Ezekiel, a business mogul, has urged Nigerian youths to stop seeking political position for the sake of get-rich-quick syndrome but dwell on a acquiring entrepreneurial skills to enable them contribute to the social and economic development of Africa.

He gave the advice on Friday during a two-day Africa Youth Summit (AYS) in Abuja which centred on sustainable entrepreneurship endeavour.

He said that most people, particularly youths, who went into politics to get cheap money, hardly make successful entrepreneur.

He further urged youths to give attention to the culture of virtue, value, excellence and integrity.

“Most people want to start big and that is the problem of most African youths, do not despise the days of little beginnings, do not run ahead of yourself,” he urged the youths.

“The first step to take toward becoming a sustainable entrepreneur is by having an idea, ideas come in sizes .

” Money should not be the first thing you look out for while embarking on the journey to become an entrepreneur, if you do, you would be a very big failure in life.

“You don’t pick up success from the floor, you work for it. Success is not something you run into, you plan and work toward it.

“Success doesn’t respect status, it comes to those who are ready to discipline themselves, work very tirelessly, who have developed passion for what they do and who are not ready to give up.”

Earlier, the President of the summit, Mr Uchechukwu Paul, said the summit was aimed at enlightening youths on the essence of a successful entrepreneuriahip and for them to be creative,among other advantages.

He called on youths to change their mindset and realign their thoughts and consciences.

He said youths could boost the collective good of Africa by being productive,eschew negative tendencies and generating ideas that would boost the social and economic development of Africa.

“We need to change our mindset & realign our thoughts and conscience toward the collective good of our mother Africa.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual event, organised by Nigerian Youth Decide (NYD), has as theme: “Light up Africa (Transformation of the African continent).”

Youths within and outside the African continent are attending the occasion.
