Abuja – A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Friday sentenced a 19- year-old businessman, Ibrahim Usman, to two months imprisonment for stealing a cell phone.
Usman, a resident of Dei-Dei, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to a count charge of stealing levelled against him.
The judge, Mr Abubakar sadiq, however, gave the convict N10, 000 option of fine and warned him to be of good behaviour and desist from committing crimes after serving out his punishment.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Auhioboh Florence, informed the court that on April 4, one Ogungbe Damilare of Blue Zing Chaise Company, Idu Industrial Area Abuja, reported the case at Karmo Police Station.
Florence said that Usman smartly put his hand inside the complainant’s pocket and stole his cell phone, but was caught immediately.
She said when Usman was caught with the phone he quickly denied, until the complainant raised alarm.
The prosecutor said that the convict was arrested and he confessed to the crime.
Florence who said that the phone was yet to be recovered, said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code
