New York (NYSE) and Johannesburg-listed energy firm, Camac Energy says a drillship, Energy Searcher, has reached Nigeria and will start drilling on the Oyo-8 well later this month.
Owned by Northern Offshore Ltd., an oil and gas firm listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE), providing contract drilling, the drillship will leave for the Oyo Field in Oyo State, southwestern Nigeria, once it has taken on personnel, equipment and supplies in Nigeria.
Oyọ State is a state in south-western Nigeria, bordered in the north by the Kwara State, in the east by Osun State, in the south and west by Ogun State and Benin Republic respectively.
The rig is contracted firstly for 12 months which can be officially lengthened to another 12 months. The rig will do work for Camac’s development program in the Oyo Field.
The rig can drill to deepness of up to 25,000 feet, and in water penetrations of up to 2,500 feet, Camac said. (VENTURES AFRICA)
