Abuja (Sundiata Post)- Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Professor Mohammed Isah on Wednesday pledged to make necessary amendments to correct audit query from the office of the Auditor General of the federation.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the Investigative hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, the CCB boss did not deny anything that is wrong from the audit query exercise, but added that the agency is prepared to make corrections in respect of observed lapses.
Responding to question on whether all the queries arose during his tenure, Isah, noted that the queries are in relation to transactions that were made in 2015, emphasising that he assumed office in 2018.
He however explained that the office of the Chairman of the Bureau is a coporate personality, adding that it is a corporate chair, “I am oblige to offer the clarifications, nothing more”.
It would be recalled that chairman of the committee, Senator Matthew Urhoghide (Edo South), at the end of the hearing, said the Committe will sustain the query.
Isah said “sustaining the query is about actually what transpired, so we are not denying anything that is wrong but we are looking forward as to how we are going to make amendments in respect of that.
“I came into office in 2018, all these inquiries that are being made are in relation to the transactions that were made in 2015 but the issue of the office of the Chairman is a corporate personality, it is a corporate Chair, I am obliged to offer the clarifications, nothing more”.
The Senate committee on Public Accounts is looking into 2015 financial year statement prepared by the Accountant General to Auditor General of the Federation.
At the end, and after looking at them, ministries, agencies and other parastatals with queries are given opportunity to defend themselves by the Senate committee on Public Accounts.
