Charly Boy, the controversial singer also known as Charles Oputa, has responded to the demands for his arrest following his recent statement.
In a tweet on Saturday, the unconventional musician urged Nigerian youth to follow the example of French demonstrators who were vandalizing public property in response to the shooting of a 17-year-old by the police near Paris on Tuesday. (Read here)
Charly Boy shared a video depicting rioters setting buildings ablaze in France, suggesting that Nigerian youth should take similar action to “reject the flawed system” that has failed them.
However, his tweet faced criticism from some Nigerians who believed he was trying to incite civil unrest, leading them to call for his arrest.
In response to these calls, Charly Boy took to his Twitter account on Sunday, mocking those demanding his arrest.
He expressed, “I find it amusing how people are going crazy in the comments section of my post and even calling for my arrest. It’s ridiculous”.
Furthermore, he criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for focusing on apprehending individuals who speak out against criminals rather than apprehending the actual criminals themselves.
He went on to label such people as useless Nigerians.
Charly Boy concluded his response by highlighting that some foolish individuals were pretending to be tough guys in response to his post, simply because he encouraged Nigerian youth to take control of their own destinies and challenge the criminal activities within the country.
Na only me just dey Laff as guys just dey Kpara on top my Post, pple come dey even call for my arrest, see monkeys.

DSS can't arrest criminals but can arrest people who speak against criminals. You’re a useless Nigerian. pic.twitter.com/LJRhVqno1A
