Abuja (Sundiata Post) – It was funfair and a ceremonial recess of some sort characterised by shaking hands of old friends as the College of Immaculate Conception Enugu Class of 90 El Classisco gathered at Sunderila hotel Abuja for the 2022 reunion in celebration of their 32nd anniversary of post secondary education.
The theme of this year’s reunion is “Reuniting in Hope, Strength and Brotherhood.”
President El – Classico 90. Dr. Ugochukwu Okafor ( Ebubedike Ihiala) in his opening remarks said that the El classico is the best amongst all the sets. According to him, El Classico has come a long way and have achieved feats that other sets cannot match. He noted that notwithstanding financial constraints and inconveniences, EL Classico has not and cannot hear the cry of any of its members without rising to the occasion to bail such a member out of his predicament. Stressing that they have done it severally and will not get tired of doing so.
He informed that his administration has introduced far reaching reforms including but not limited to improving welfare of members.
Dr Okafor who recounted that the first reunion was in 2016, thanked the pioneer President, Chinedu Obiano for laying the initial solid foundation.
He also paid glowing tribute to the pioneer Executive Committee members of El – Classico ’90 led by Mr. Chinedu Obiano and immediate past Executive Committee members led by Obinna Ogbuagu
Engr Obinwanne Ihezue for his sterling leadership qualities.
Also not left out in his showers of encomiums are the members of the local planning committee namely: Ihezue Obinwanne, Milton Ikeaba, Obinna Ogbuagu, Chibedu Obiano, Ugo Okafor and Chibuzor Morah.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the ocassion, Ambassador Akin Ayetoro charged EL Classico to lean and leverage on one another to lighten their burdens.
Amb Akin said reunions are good because they give one opportunity of renewal, networking and opportunity to reflect as you go through this journey called life.
Akin, who titled the subject of his topic: “Restorative Power of Hope”, said that hope springs eternal in human best; hope it is that gets us up every morning giving in fresh impetus that we can do better today than the go gone bye. It is that eternal fountain that springs anew each morning , each day – infusing us with confidence that we may succeed if we are determined enough and steady at a course.
Ambassador advised that in building their lives they should ensure they infuse it with all the education, ability and skill they have because if that is not done, they will look back and wish they had done that but only to discover that the opportunity would have gone because that time is spent.
He reminded them that they are the carpenter of their lives as the attitude and choices they make today will be their house for tomorrow.
