ABUJA – The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has commended Nigerians for their determination and peaceful conduct during the March 28 Presidential election.
This is contained in a congratulatory message issued by the Executive Director, CISLAC, Mr Auwal Musa, on Friday in Abuja.
The statement hailed the steadfastness, patience and orderliness with which Nigerians turned out to exercise their franchise in electing a leader of their choice
“This attitude has restored the pride and dignity of Nigerian citizens and made us the toast of the international community.
“We celebrate with Nigerians that in spite the tension generated by the campaigns, the elections were brought to a peaceful and unprecedented conclusion.
“CISLAC congratulated the leadership and staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for delivering a free, fair and credible election which fulfilled the aspirations of majority of Nigerians.
“We note that this was achieved amidst several forms of distractions to undermine its credibility and scuttle the electoral process,’’ the statement said.
It also commended the humility of President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating the winner.
“We urge him (Buhari) to remain objective and focused while discharging his mandate as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and maintain equity to ensure a unified Nigeria.
