Abuja – A 35-year-old civil servant, Edward Akwandaye, on Monday appeared in a Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory for allegedly injuring a woman on her left hand.
Akwandaye of Lugbe by Zone 3 Market, pleaded not guilty to the offence of causing hurt contrary to Section 242 of the Penal Code.
Prosecutor Rebecca Odunjide told the court that Okechi Sandra of Flat B1, Zone 1, Games village Estate, Abuja, had reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station on March 19.
Odunjide said the defendant attacked the complainant while she was trying to remove things from her car within the estate, which led to her sustaining some injuries on her left hand.
The presiding officer, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum.
Kagarko said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case till May 26 for hearing. (NAN)
