Jos – The Assistant Parish Priest, Church of Assumption Chong’o Pyeng, Jos, Rev. Fr. Godfrey Gopep, on Tuesday urged traders to desist from cheating and selling fake products to the people.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos, Gopep decried the “unnecessary’’ increase of prices by traders just to make quick and huge gains.
“A lot of traders in our markets today will reduce the quality and quantity of their goods and increase the price just to cheat buyers.
“This is why we have a lot of substandard products being imported into this country, because traders want to make quick money.
“But let me tell you, if those who cheat will go to hell, those who cheat the poor and the less-privileged, their punishment will be stiffer,’’ the cleric said.
He enjoined the Christian faithful to desist from cheating the poor, adding that anyone who cheated the poor would have his joy turned to sorrow.
Gopep urged Nigerians to support government and relevant authorities in the fight against importation of substandard and fake products into the country.
