Lagos – A cleric, Pastor Oladele Olutola, on Thursday urged Nigerians to turn to God with fervent prayers, seeking His intervention in the current political, social and economic affairs of the country.
Olutola, the outgoing National President of the Apostolic Church Nigeria and LAWNA Territorial Chairman said this while speaking with newsmen on his forthcoming retirement.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Olutola, who was appointed as the national president and inducted into office on May 31, 2011, will be retiring from the service of the church on April 31.
He is retiring at the age of 84, after spending 52 years in the church.
The cleric said that with fervent prayers and Nigerians embracing a lifestyle of holiness, the nation would find a way out of the current recession it was faced with.
“Nigerians can generate divine attention from God if they embrace an attitude of thanksgiving to God for His provision for their everyday needs.
“The present economic recession confronting the nation is for a period, but with the right thing in place, the problem would not last long,’’ he said.
The incoming National President, Pastor Segun Awojide, described Olutola as “a man of integrity, accountability and probity.’’
“I have always looked up to him as my role model; he is a very prayerful man and one that is so open,’’ he said.
Awojide said with the collective efforts by Nigerians through prayers, the story of the country would change.
“Prayer is the tool that can make the impossible become possible. We must use prayer to make Nigeria to become a better place,’’ he said.
Awojide urged political office holders and people at the helm of affairs in the country to be God-fearing and listen to the cries of the masses.
