He said that some of the workers, who participated in the programme from private and public sectors, were trained on e-government, monitoring and evaluation.
He said others were trained on strategic leadership, management and risk management, enterprises and entrepreneurship development, performance of management system and management development workshop.
According to him, e-government is part of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) contribution in the delivery of government policies, programmes and projects.
“E-government is about e-learning, e-payment, e-passport, e-migration and e-budgeting because it will minimise contact between the public and civil servants.
“We in the CMD felt that e-government programme, with the advent of ICT, is a useful programme that instils elements of accountability, transparency and accessibility,’’ the director-general said.
He said the new digital centre, which was developed by CMD under a Public Private Partnership agreement, was inaugurated by the former Minister of National planning, Dr Abubakar Sulaiman, in May.
Usman, who said the centre was funded by the Adeakis Nigeria Ltd, disclosed that it was established to promote the use of ICT through capacity building in the country.
According to him, the digital centre will also provide opportunities for technology acquisition, create wealth and boost revenue for the centre.
He said the centre, which was equipped with ultra-modern training facilities to provide ICT related services, would provide a comfortable and efficient business environment. (NAN)
