Sokoto – A lawmaker, Alhaji Sani Yakubu,(APC), representing Gudu constituency in the Sokoto State House of Assembly , says he plans to train no fewer than 1,600 on Information, Communications and Technology ( ICT) .
” The youths will be drawn from the 10 wards of the local government on an equal distribution basis,” Yakubu told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Sokoto on Tuesday.
He said that the training would last till 2019 when his tenure would end.
Yakubu, also the chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, added that the first batch of 200 youths was currently undergoing screening.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He explained that each of them must have completed his or her Senior Secondary School, before he or she would be qualified for selection.
” At the end of the training of every batch, the best 10 will be sponsored to pursue various certificate and diploma courses in ICT.
” The knowledge of ICT is now the vogue globally and many people from my constituency and my state in general must not lag behind.
” My constituency has been losing when it comes to recruitment for job opportunities, registration in schools and other national assignments like census and elections,” Yakubu said.
The lawmaker said that the programme to be conducted in partnership with Muhtassibi Computer Academy, would hold at Balle, the headquarters of Gudu Local Government.
Yakubu also said that the gesture was aimed at bolstering the standard of education in his constituency, the state and the country in general. (NAN)
