The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Good Governance in Nigeria expresses deep concern over recent remarks made by Mr. Bashir Ajibola, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), regarding the governance of Osun State.
The coalition condemns Mr. Ajibola’s assertion that governance in Osun State is on autopilot, viewing it as an attempt to undermine the democratically elected administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke. Such remarks are deemed irresponsible and divisive.
It is evident that Mr. Ajibola’s comments may be influenced by personal motives, given his defeat in the last senatorial election in Osun State. However, his continued attempts to sow political instability are unacceptable.
We call upon President Bola Tinubu and the National leadership of the APC to intervene and restrain Mr. Ajibola from further destabilizing Osun State. Respect for properly constituted authority, particularly the incumbent administration in Osun State, is paramount for the progress and stability of the state.
The coalition emphasizes the importance of unity and constructive criticism in advancing the welfare of Osun state and its citizens. We urge all stakeholders to prioritize collaboration for the betterment of the state.
We reaffirm our support for the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke and encourage the people of Osun state to sustain their backing for continued progress under his leadership.
