Following the resolution by the Minister of State for Aviation to Concession Nigeria’s airport to fast track the process of upgrading them and bringing them to global standards, the National President Air transport Services Senior staff Association, Ahmadu Ilitrus has called on the Federal government to rather corporatize them.
The new ATSSAN president who reiterated the association’s stand against concessions says other countries like Malaysia have corporatized with good results.
Speaking on the use of Kaduna as alternative airport to Abuja, he lauded the Federal government for the smooth operations so far ,adding that, Medview airline has been granted leave to fly direct to London from Kaduna.
He however expressed dissatisfaction with the redundancy arrangements made by AMCON concerning staff of Aero contractors saying that” they flouted the agreements reached with the association on disengagement of staff” .
Ahmadu Ilitrus further called on the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for domestic airlines while also calling for a review of agencies where”outsiders are recruited and placed above older staff who should have attained certain positions following due promotion”.
