Abuja – A Kubwa Grade I Area Court on Monday, convicted a 23- year-old man, Amos James for stealing 5, 000 dollars and an IPhone. The judge Ibrahim Balarabe convicted James, who is charged with criminal conspiracy, mischief and theft. Balarabe however defered his sentencing until May 30 in order for the court to look into the compensation to be paid to the complainant, Almustapha Liman.
The prosecutor, Urom Otu had told the court that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Abuja was informed that James broke into the back glass of a Kia Sportage car belonging to Liman at Wuse 2, Abuja on March 1. He said James committed the act in company of one John Musa at large and stole a mini bag containing International passports of the complainant’s father inlaw and wife, 5, 000 dollars, an I phone and three ATM cards. He further said James used one of the ATM cards to withdraw N150, 000 from the complainant’s Bank account adding that the offence contravened Sections 97, 257 and 224 of the Penal Code. James however pleaded guilty and begged for mercy.
