Lagos – A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday granted N10 million bail to an accused, Eletauzor Kele, charged with trafficking in drug suspected to be Ephedrine .
The accused was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a charge bordering on the alleged offence.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following an application for bail by the defence counsel, Mrs Lilian Omotunde, Justice Saliu Saidu granted the accused bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.
Saidu adjourned the case to March 8 for trial.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Ichakpa Oigoga, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 7, 2015.
He said that the accused was arrested at a warehouse belonging to the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja in Lagos State.
Oigoga said that the accused was in possession of a kilogramme of Ephedrine, a precursor chemical, used for the manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

According to the prosecutor, Ephedrine is listed in the second schedule of the NDLEA Act as a restricted narcotic.
He said that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 14 (b) of the same Act.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence of drug trafficking can attract up to a term of life imprisonment upon conviction. (NAN)
