Sango-Ota – A magistrates’ court in Ota, Ogun, on Tuesday remanded five men, facing trail for alleged armed robbery, in prison.
The accused, Uangbaoje Lucky, 22; Abdullahi Ibrahim, 30; Ganiyu Alabi, 67; Yusuf Akinwowo, 66 and Ogunfowokan, 36, all of no fixed address, are facing three-count charge each of armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearm and conspiracy.
The court remanded them at the Ota Prison pending the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the state.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Brown, had told the court that the accused and others at large, committed the offences on March 20, 2015, at about 8 p.m. at the toll gate in Ota.
Brown said the accused snatched a Lexus jeep with registration number KRD 467 CZ, valued N1.7 million from one Taiwo Ogundairo.

She said that at the time of committing the offence, the accused were armed with one locally-made gun and other dangerous weapons, when they attacked.
According to her, the offences contravened sections 1(2), (b) and 5(r) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. R11 laws of the Federation, 2004.
After the submission of the prosecutor, the Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, ordered that the five suspects should be remanded in prison pending the availability of a legal advice on the matter from the DPP.
Adebutu therefore adjourned the case until July 9, 2015 for further hearing. (NAN)
