ABUJA –  An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered that 30-year-old Shehu Inuwa, a security man, be remanded in prison pending the prosecutor’s presentation of more witnesses.

Inuwa, a security guard of plot 66, Ademola Adetokunbo Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, was arraigned on a one-count charge of unnatural offence.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr Christopher Oba, gave the order after the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

Oba then adjourned hearing until June 26 to allow the prosecutor to present his witnesses in court.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Ango, told the court that Mohammed Ghali, of the same address as the accused, reported the matter at the Wuse 2 Police Station.

Ango said that while the complainant was sleeping in his room in the same house, the accused entered the room and forcibly had anal intercourse with him without his consent.

He said that the offence contravened section 284 of Penal Code.

Section 284 states: “Whoever has canal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for at least 14 years and shall be fined.’’ (NAN)
