Mararaba (Nasarawa State) – A Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, on Tuesday remanded in prison custody a 21-year-old furniture maker, Ogie Joshua, for alleged theft of a belt and other items.
The judge, Mr Albert Maga, ordered the remand of defendant at the Keffi Prison sequel to the prosecutor’s objection to his bail application.
Maga gave the ruling following an oral application made by the prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, urging the court to refuse the bail.
The judge adjourned the case till March 18 for continuation of hearing.
Adaji had objected to the bail on the grounds that the defendant was not a first time offender.

“My lord the defendant was once arraigned in this court for the offence of stealing and was sentenced.
Earlier, the prosecutor had told the court that Musa Mohammed of Aso Pada, lodged a complaint at the Aso Pada Police Station on March 5.
Adaji said that the defendant forcefully opened the complainant’s window and entered into his room and stole a belt valued at N5,200, two pairs of shoes and three pairs of trousers.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was apprehended inside the room with the items.
Adaji said the offences contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
