Kano – A Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting on Wednesday remanded Adam Mohammed, 20, in prison custody over alleged armed robbery.
The accused who resides in Nasarawa State, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Chief Magistrate, Fatima Adamu, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for further mention.
The prosecutor, Insp. Aluta Mijinyawa, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June. 18 at Maraban Karu Quarters in Nasarawa State.
Mijinyawa told the court that the accused conspired with three others now at large to commit the offence.
The prosecutor said that the accused person while armed with dangerous weapons such as cutlass, sharp knives and iron cutter, robbed one Dr Victor Olisa and his family.
He added that the accused robbed Dr Victor of his Jeep car with registration number DKA 562 CU, three laptops, one digital camera, seven phones, gold jewelleries worth N1.5 million and cash sum of N100,000.
Mijinyawa also told the court that the accused drove the car from Nasarawa State to Kano State to dispose it and was arrested on his way at Dakatsalle Village with some of the items.
He said three laptops, one digital camera, and two phones were recovered from the accused person.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to section 97, 6(a)(b), 1(1)(2) (a) (b) of robbery and Firearms Act Cap Rill LFN 2004 as Amended. (NAN)
