Court Remands Man For Alleged Robbery, Stealing

Ile-Ife (Osun), – An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Thursday, remanded a 35-year-old man, Seyi Kolawole, for alleged robbery, stealing and threat to life.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Elijah Adesina, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 7 at around 12 noon at Agbungbun Village via Edunabon and within Ipetumodu in the Ife North Local Government Area.

Adesina said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit: robbery, stealing and threat to life.

According to him, the defendant robbed one Segun Adedoja and disposed him of his mobile phone, valued at N150, 000 and his cutlass valued at N2, 500 all totaling N152, 000.

According to him, the defendant also stole some bunches of plantain, valued at N38, 000 and some quantities of kolanut, valued at N10,000 all totaling N48,000, property of Adedoja.

Adesina explained further that the defendant also threatened to kill Adedoja.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 86, 383, 388,390 (9), 402 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defendant who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy, robbery, stealing and threat to life.

Magistrate O. T. Badmus ordered remand of the defendant in the Nigerian Correctional Custody, pending consideration of his bail.

Badmus adjourned the case until March 27. (NAN)(
