Lagos  –  An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 25-year-old unemployed man, Asimiu Adebayo, at the Kirirkiri Prisons, Apapa, Lagos for allegedly defiling his cousin.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused in prison custody over the alleged rape of his 15-year-old cousin.
Adebayo, who lives with the father of the victim at the Moricas Area of Agege, Lagos, is facing a charge of defilement.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the offence was committed on Nov. 12 at the accused’s residence.
Iseghede said one of the neighbours who heard the screaming of the girl peeped through the window and saw the accused raping the girl.
“She then alerted the other tenants and the accused was apprehended,’’ he said.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
