ABUJA – Dr Machu Abraham, the Managing Director of a private oral and medical care outfit based in Abuja, on Thursday, advised Nigerians to cultivate the habit of maintaining good oral hygiene.
Abraham told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that maintaining good oral hygiene would enable people to ward off bad breath and ensure a healthy lifestyle.
“Take care of your oral hygiene; your oral hygiene is upper most, because if you clean your teeth very well it is very difficult for you to have bad breath.
“Bad breathe can be divided into categories. One is local – that may be because you have bad oral hygiene; yes you can have it.
“There is also the systemic one, which is disease-induced. In oral hygiene it is believed that everybody or it is advised that everybody should brush twice daily.

“If you brush twice daily, it will be very difficult for you to have bad breath because there are particles that can hang in the teeth and if you do not remove them, you can easily have bad breathe.“
Abraham advised people to cultivate the habit of rinsing their mouth with water while fasting to avoid bad breath.
“People that fast so often, they have bad breath because they don’t take fluid so the mouth is dry, so even if you are fasting once in a while rinse your mouth, it is very important.
“Nobody is stopping you from fasting, but rinse your mouth and speak, talk, don’t keep quiet because you are fasting, it’s like a hole in your mouth.
“If there is no air that is coming in and out it’s going to bring bad breath and most people forget to brush their tongue even if your teeth is clean, if don’t brush your tongue and the upper roof of your mouth, you can have bad breath. “ (NAN)
