Gwagwalada – Mr Yohana Azaki, the District Head of Paso community, Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, has called on farmers and herdsmen in the community to coexist and promote peace.
Azaki made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gwagwalada on Tuesday.
The district head said that the cessation of farmers-herdsmen conflicts would promote peace and boost food production in the neighbourhood and the country at large.
According to him, it will also enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the people and the economic development of the country.
Azaki also urged the residents of his community to sustain their interest in farming so as to enhance food production, saying that no society could exist comfortably without agriculture.
He, however, urged farmers not to sell all their harvested farm produce, saying that they should set aside part of the food crops to nourish their households,
“Agriculture is the major means of livelihood for many people in our country; its importance to the growth of the society cannot be overemphasised,’’ he said..
Besides, Azaki urged Nigerians to fast-track the country’s development by living in peace and tolerating one another, irrespective of their ethnic, religious, political affiliations and other divisive tendencies.
“No society or nation can achieve any meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour and confusion, hence the need for Nigerians to embrace peace at all the times.’’
He called on other community leaders in the neighbourhood to collaborate with the security agencies in their respective areas, in efforts to address the security challenges facing the areas.
