In Agosasa community, tension flared over a dispute regarding the town’s Obaship, resulting in extensive property damage and the tragic loss of a life. Amidst the turmoil, chaos erupted when DSS operatives stormed the court premises and apprehended suspects involved in the conflict.
Kehinde Bamiwola, counsel to Alhaji Isiaka, alleged severe mistreatment by the DSS, accusing them of using excessive force during the arrests. The Principal Registrar of the High Court, Comrade Omololu Olusanya, condemned the incident, describing it as a blatant disregard for the rule of law.
Despite the judge’s order prohibiting arrests within the court premises, the operatives proceeded with the arrests, even assaulting court staff during the operation. The lack of identification and the aggressive manner of the operatives added to the distressing nature of the event.
Efforts to reach Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesman, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
