Ado-Ekiti – The Ekiti government on Monday said it was partnering with India on the training of its workers.
The Head of Service in the state, Dr Olugbenga Faseluka, made this known in Ikere-Ekiti at the flag off of a seven-day ICT training programme for Directors and Auditors.
Faseluka said 14 civil servants, who had undergone training programmes in India, had just returned to the state.
He said another set of officers was already in India and undergoing training in some public training institutions.
Faseluka gave an assurance that the state government was intensifying efforts to open more international training windows for its workforce in order to improve efficiency.
He commended Gov. Ayo Fayose’s commitment to reforming the public service through training and re-training of workers.
Faseluka said the resolve of government to fully integrate into the current technological trend and conduct its business electronically necessitated the training programme.
He also said 500 units of laptop computers were given to the participants, warning that government would no longer give room for incompetence.
” Workers must henceforth complement governments’ efforts by being proactive and efficient,’’ he said.
In her remarks, the Provost of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Dr Mojisola Oyarekua, said the ICT training programme was relevant at a time that the world was becoming completely digital.
“Now that everyone is switching from ever-stressful paper work to less stressful paperless administration, this training is coming at the right time,’’ she said.
The provost commended the foresight of the governor for approving the training programme, saying “this bold step will definitely transform the state.’’
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of Establishments and Training, Mr Banji Ojo, said the training programme would go a long way in tackling the lapses identified in the personnel and payroll processes.
